Hugh Grant's claim against Sun publisher to proceed, as Judge rejects most of NGN strike-out application

In a judgment handed down today, 26th May 2023, Hacked Off Board Director Hugh Grant's claim has been given permission to proceed to full trial on the allegations of landline tapping, bugging of his home and car and stealing of his personal information.News Group Newspapers, publishers of The Sun, had attempted to have his whole claim struck out. In the event their application was largely rejected, except on the sole point of phone hacking. In respect of the phone hacking allegation, the judge found that Mr Grant should have brought his claim earlier. This finding was reached despite the fact that News Group had sought to conceal evidence of wrongdoing from Mr Grant; a detail not contested by the publisher.Commenting, Hugh Grant said,WAITING FOR SIGN OFF
